Reflective City, masking tape and vinyl sheets on wall, thread, and nails, Galerie im Saalbau, Berlin, Germany, 2019
Using the gallery's square glass entrance door as a point of departure for this site-specific tape drawing, I created a reflection of the squares in which street life and the urban environment are mirrored. It explores a dual reflectivity between inner and outer worlds, where light, movement, and stillness are intertwined.
By applying black vinyl squares to the wall, matching the dimensions of the glass, I created cut-outs of reflections representing different stages of the sun, opening toward Karl-Marx-Straße. In this way, I playfully and subjectively interpreted the urbanism of the outside world while simultaneously reflecting it from the opposite side of the window.
